Intruiged by the idea as I have enjoyed AoE games in the past and I think RTS can work well on mobile if done properly.
As ever, this will live or die on how well implemented the F2P model is - if it works on a 'pay-to-shortcut' model that's fine (I'm patient) but if it is in any way 'pay-to-win' it will be a disaster (I'm cheap).

Agreed. F2P has a place - I would be reluctant to pay actual money for a mobile game up front simply because of all the dross.
For a somewhat serious mobile game (not just some cow-clicker), they should surely use something like the old shareware model.
For RTS, give away a single-player, single map skirmish - or the beginnings of a campaign. Then, charge for multiplayer or further maps or different player races, or single-player campaign. Chuck in a few Valve-style hats, or whatever, and everyone's a winner.
What no love for BB10? Guess I'll have to see if the Android version will run...Age of Empires: World Domination is coming in "summer 2014" for iOS, Android and Windows Phone ...
looks good, my ipad has been waiting for AOE, i really wanted AOE2 but this will do
and another -1 for F2P
i would rather pay 2.99 for a game and own it than get it for free and have my options strangled...
Age Of Empires 2 still rocks.
