I thought what it was supposed to do was enable 'stations' to be compressed into 'efficient' bitstreams, and that because they stuck the word 'digital' on it, we'd all rush out and buy one .... or several. Meaning that government could free up a large chunk of the spectrum, and sell it off for lots of dosh.

Or were you referring to the marketing bol..... er, drivel that was used to hype it up to sell it?

Cynic? Moi? Dunno what you mean, guv.

Hmm, yes, I ran out an upgraded my car's radio to DAB only to discover that there were portions of my then-commute that couldn't get any signal.

So much for the claims that DAB would give wider service choices, better quality and enhanced signal coverage. Oh, wait a minute, isn't that the same claims as for 4G?

I love the old cliché that says "cynic is what an optimist calls a realist"

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...
