    /shudder.

That ranks right up there alongside Ed Miliband as PM.

Did you never draw on your pencil case as a kid, or anything? Stickers on your workbook? Spokey dokeys or football/baseball cards on your Raleigh Chopper?

    ....
Well, no, no, no and no.

For some, it's the most expensive thing they own, so blinging it up however they see fit is the thing to do.

Rather than hide it away, some do turn it into the centrepiece of their room. For a talented few artisans, it is an actual work of art.
Surely even you can appreciate a few of those insanely awesome custom scratch builds out there?

For those like me, it's something I spend a lot of time around. It's a big black box dumped on my desk. It couldn't be more unobtrusive if it were the Hindenberg!!
Rather than just a boring black box, I want something I look at and see how cool it is. That said, almost all of my pritty pritty lights do have a practical purpose... I've just been a touch more creative with them along the way.
I have seen some extremely well done custom jobs, yes. There've been threads on here I've followed with great interest, to see what people have done, and even more, how they did it.

From time to time I watch TV shows with companies customising cars, especially some of the US ride-pimping shows. And, I can admire the workmanship and craftmanship without feeling the slightest inclination to pimp my own ride.

So yeah, I sure do appreciate some of those custom builds, for the 'art', but that doesn't mean I've any wish to do it myself.

I also rather see buying an illuminated bridge as the PC equivalent of buying chrome exhaust extensions for a car. Maybe it's bling, sort-of, but certainly doesn't show the craft or expertise of a good custom build.

But just to be clear, I have NO problem with what anybody else does to bling up their PC. Like shoes or shirts, fashion is a personal thing. And I don't bother with fashion in clothes either. I wear what I like, because it's comfortable and well-made, not because of what other people think of it. If others don't like it, it's their problem, not mine.

So I can understand people blinging up their PC, even though I'm not at all interested in doing it myself. An illuminated bridge does strike me as naff, tacky, just .... nasty, in the extreme. BUT .... if you like it, or LED's, cold-cathode, etc, (or ribbon bows ) it's your choice, just as my choice of shoes or shirts probably wouldn't be yours.

And car shops still stock chrome exhaust extensions, so presumanly, some tasteless saps (IMHO, of course) are still buying them thinking it looks good.

I did say in my first post, though, that I suspect I'm in the minority on here, but I wouldn't want one. I could already see why others might. It was just my viewpoint.
