Re: Steam's Christmas sale rumoured to start December 18th

Their Thanksgiving sale was pretty good so I stocked up then. Hoping the prices aren't lower at Christmas as I still haven't played any... seems to be Steam's way of making money as I know people with 20+ unplayed games.

Do Steam pay the game provider when you buy it - or when you first install & run (aka license) the game?

Yeh , that auction thing was a big farce and fail , and should not have ever been created . Bring on the regular holiday sale , at least that has decent merit behind it !

But but elite dangerous is out today... i wont have any time for sale games...

Honestly though, the discounts will have to be decent to tempt me this season. Kinda miffed about my gtx 970 performing like crap with farcry 3 and 4..with finding out after purchase.

My gtx 970 runs farcry 3 fine at 1440p with the geforce experience settings, at max settings it had slight slow down in some areas. Far cry 4 I think is still waiting for a performance patch as it would keep slowing down even on sli 980's.

If you're getting poor performance in Far Cry 4 on a 970 at 1200p, there might be a problem with your system - are you maxing out the quality settings or something? I'm also running it on a 970 at 1440p on high settings, and it's running fine...

I used to go mad during Steam sales which results in having so many games I can't actually install all of them even with a dedicated 1Tb games drive. I have so many left to play and I recently grabbed a copy of Alien: Isolation, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Wolfenstein: The New Order. Also slowly working my way through Skyrim. Really don't need more games until at least next year...!

I recently completed watchdogs so I'm now on the lookout for another game. Shadow of mordor looks tempting... Then again, so does the new call of duty.

Any ideas people for casual RPGs like skyrim etc?

Re: Steam's Christmas sale rumoured to start December 18th

I have about 47 games on my wishlist this year but I 100% DONT NEED ANYMORE GAMES I WON'T PLAY!

As for RPG's do you want 1st person like Skyrim (limiting your choices to Obivlion, Morrowind, FO3, FO:NV) or will 3rd person / isometric fit the bill as well?

In that case you will have to venture to a different perspective

The Dragon Ages games are great but more linear than Bethesda style games. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was surprisingly enjoyable and often goes very cheap. Divinity Original Sin is great if you like the old school RPG style (Baulders Gate etc).

Steam queue on the front page is annoying. I've added loads of stuff to my wishlist this past few days which means I'll end up spending loads if any of them are on offer.

I unfortunately own all 3 titles. If you were crazy enough to complete watchdogs you might enjoy SoM....but I found that even more repetitive than WD (plus the textures are truely ugly for a game with outrageous VRAM requirements) . CoD is only worth it for the SP. The MP is nothing new at all and is full of hackers who can't even be bothered to hide their aimbots and absurd cheating.
