That's a really good summary - I think I've got the 2nd game in my steam library, so I'll add it to my list of games to download.

Re: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PC system requirements published

I'm pretty sure even my old Core i7 870K is faster than a Phenom II X4 940, so why are the Intel requirements so high? Seems daft. I have enough RAM, but I'd need a new graphics card as mine is reaching 5 years old now. I just don't have the money to upgrade. If my CPU genuinely won't have a chance at running the game, there isn't much point in me upgrading my graphics card, and I'll just avoid the game for now. Plenty of other games to play.

    Q6600 launch date Q1, 2007. 4 years should be 2011, just saying.

Interesting. So maybe Nvidia cards will benefit from more graphical effects, and so require more power for them, while the Amd cards remain cut off from those extras. But then that doesn't explain why a more powerful Intel Cpu is required in comparison to the Amd Cpu..
If I understand correctly, it seems that additional features available only on Nvidia GPUs have (theoretically, if CDPR is to be believed) been optimized to the point where lower GPUs can render those effects with as much of a penalty effect, like the enhanced godrays and fur, for instance.
Regarding CPUs, the recommended ones from both sides do tend to be relatively matched, as there have been several benchmark reports in the past that indicate that an i7-3770K often trades blows with the FX-8350, more often than not outperforming the AMD CPU on most tasks except the more heavily multithreaded ones, as can be expected to an extent. However, I'm as puzzled as you as to the minimum CPU requirements listed.

well looks like my decision to by a 4690k soon is a good one. Shame my GPU is below minimum spec.

Hmmm. I think I can get away with using low-medium settings.
