Slated for 7.5 hour battery, wow, thats good for a Windows Laptop, Of course Apple will be better as they have finer control over the hardware and software, with Windows you cna only do so much software wise.

Funny how "reinvents the notebook" appears to be code for make an apple-version of the zenbook ux305 and add apple tax.
Couple thinks that I do like here:
1. Not replacing the Air (lol)
2. The colors...Please make a Space Gray MBP...please...
3. It's a pretty edgy thing to do...once again closing the gap between tablets and computers XD
Some serious questions:
1. Why is this more than an Air? You'll get more power, more memory, more ports, almost as much portability, and it's cheaper too...
2. It has 9 hours of battery. The Air has more than that...not saying that's not plenty, however.
3. Not even a headphone jack? Really? Even iPads (Heck, iPhones) have headphone jacks...
I totally agree of about core M. And with Mac's you get double tax. You get Apple Tax and Intel Tax. So it better be worth double tax for your needs. iPad is only Apple Tax and almost matches cpu performance, but not specs all around. It might have better GPU performance.
its sexual chocolate
They still have the Macbook air in the lineup. With at least core i5. The new 'Macbook' tries to blend Air and iPad. "Glorified iPad with a keyboard," without the semi-reasonable price or graphics performance, but more traditional computer experience. This link compares some graphics of A8X vs 5300. Not all because of different platforms.

And it generally bets with room to spare and that is at a lower power level than Core M.
While we are at the topic, am I the only one who really miss the white Macintosh?
The bubble white like the Unibody polycarbonate model of macbook (which I own and unlike the older plastic models it is still white and not yellow).
For some reason I love bright white devices, I have a white wacom, a white macbook, white sony headphones, a white LG L90 and a white asus router which died recently.
Is there something wrong with me?
first impression: wow how pretty. second impression after looking at the specs: Typical Apple all show. but saying that all the Apple fan boy will love it.
From an engineering perspective, it's pretty impressive although you could argue not as impressive as Sony and the x505 from 10 years ago... tech seems to be on an 'eco drive' to reduce power usage etc.
It's got the usual apple marketing junk.... 'pressure sensitive touchpad', like that will actually make much difference in day to day use, it will end up being no different to 'press and hold' feature.
The tiny 'logic board'.... well it's going to be tiny, the core m has pretty much everything built in to it and then when you remove the need for connectors on all but 7 things (keyboard, screen, speaker, headphone, usb socket, touchpad and the batteries)
It looks pretty enough but usability will be a pita with just the one usb3.1 port for everything but headphones.
And then there's my personal favourite items... you need to BUY an adapter to get any real usability (full size usb anyone....)
People who want connectivity will just get a Macbook Pro though - unless that gets canned if this sells well enough because Apple can make a fortune on the required usb-c converters
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
One thing I can say is compared to some other Core M laptops of its type, it *might* not be so overpriced. For example, the Yoga 3 Pro http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops...-3-pro-laptop/ is $1299 for a 256/8GB model. With less battery life, but a touchscreen. So that's the trade off there I guess.
