Or I can quote it for you LOL. AMD don't own Mantle it's the product of a partnership.

All well and good but its a complete and utter dead-end.

1.0 is the last version. No new games are using it (unless they have been built on an engine like frostbite 3) and AMD will not be developing it any more. It's now a legacy product.

AMD requested development move to Vulkan (and possibly DX12)

So you already knew AMD didn't kill Mantle yet say it anyway...

Go read the announcement. It's very clearly worded.

Well we'll find out in a week so not worth spending too much energy on it.

Indeed. Although Stardock's release date is this winter time.

Oh so you think the AMD supported version would take longer to roll out? I'd have thought mantle is exactly the kind of thing you'd test in an early access game. Would you be really disappointed if there wasn't a mantle version?

The question is: is it better than Supreme Commander?

Well as far as I know AMD support the engine and the developers take it from that point pritty much. That said the developers are from the core Mantle development group so maybe the implementation doesn't work quite like that. But no, I think the support will be in from early on and don't really care what API I'm running as long as I get playable frame rates in an beta I wouldn't be disappointed.

Re: Ashes of the Singularity DX12 hits Steam Early Access on 22nd Oct

It can't possibly be better than SC. First it implements new graphics engine (or instruction set). Always means its gonna suck gameplaywise. Secondly the nostalgia of the people who did play supreme commander is going to drone on casting a shadow over any robotic RTS.

Total annihilation; now that was a game.

Re: Ashes of the Singularity DX12 hits Steam Early Access on 22nd Oct

Wish they would just give a release date already instead of 'sometime next winter'. These days that could mean 2019. I'm not throwing money out until the reviews come. I did that with Planetary Annihilation and it was absolute guff.

Yeah the winter release date is annoying, but from what I've seen I'm convinced enough to buy a copy. It looks like an epic game.

I doubt they'll bother with Mantle, there's no point and it'll just be a headache down the line. Mantle = LiquidVR, so it definitely lives on but not here.

Wasn't you claiming a few weeks ago that Mantle was DX12?
Now you seem to be saying it's actually LiquidVR, if you read the statement from AMD themselves you may get it right next time.
