I was expecting Windows Phone to have a about 5% to 10% market share by now. I'm a part of the 1.7% with my Lumia 620 still. I have received funny looks when people realise I'm on a windows phone as if I'm some kind of oddball! lol.. The weird world of smartphone platform loyalty.

Window phone platform has the same problem as Blackberry apps world. You got a couple of people slapping the branding of famous apps and giving a lite version of the app (crap) and charging users for the privilege. Why did they allow it to get like this? because they wanted to say 100,000 apps..... 1,000,000 apps... even though many of those apps are just links to websites. They shot themselves in the foot.

I've had a laptop for a year now and the app store looks as crap today as it did the first time I went into it. Just scams. Hardware wise they make decent hardware. Social media generation it seems is skipping MS altogether.

Microsoft has published an Android app on Google Play that "identifies your favourite Android apps and matches them with apps available from the Microsoft Store".

Although on the whole you are correct there are exceptions: https://oneplus.net/x

I get your point but you missed mine.

Banking Apps - I want to use my phone as an authentication device, not carry another with me
Parking apps - Just way to press 'PARK' and walk away
Sonos controller - No web option,

Again I see what you are saying about apps but there is alot more to them than just web front ends!
