Well, let's not get our hopes up just yet.
I want AMD to be again near the top (I do not believe that they will be on par with Intel this or next year), but that is very difficult. I assume they need to make CPUs 70% off the Intel's best performance. Coupled with a smaller price, that can make it work.
In any case, they need a very powerful solution to match Intel i7. Because only this will let them sell more. Because people always wanted the best.
Till then, AMD fans should rather consider buying old Phenom II processors, that are still on the market (e.g, Hardware.eu has the Phenom II X2 560, not to mention Amazon and eBay stores).
