That is sort of what I was trying to get at originally.
The price is just to high compared to a normal, commercial SATA drive, but for where it is intended, it would be great. That does not mean to say that there will be people who will still try to find a good reason to get one for home. And like I said, if I won one, I am sure I could find a purpose for it. :-)
Isn't it like taking a 128GB SD card out of a phone and replacing it with a 2TB version. It needs to be fast enough for the purpose, and big enough storage that you are not running out of room half way through, and since they are SSD's, they cope with shock a lot better than HDD's. If you put several of these SSD's in a enclosure, you have a lot of fairly portable, huge storage space. Or as a slide in and out cartridge in the camera's.
Since they are bringing out 8K TV's, how long before filming starts to go there, (I don't know myself, but if like Nifl asked - "Isn't uncompressed 8bit 4k 60fps video 1.59GB/s?", how much is it for 8K?). Or even higher quality 4K films.

Forgot to mention, I did some work for a friend over a period of time and on my birthday he gave me a Intel DC s3700 800GB SSD which was worth about A$2,200 (over US$1,500).
So to compared them, if you were to make the intel into a 13TB drive, this Fixstars one is relatively cheap. (13TB / 800GB = 16.5 x $1,500 = US$24,750)

I'm still waiting for MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, and Acer to produce laptops with 1TB+ SSDs instead of the teeny weenie 128GB/256GB ones in them now.

All I want is ~500gb top end SSDs such as the samsung evo to be £50. May have to wait a bit methinks...

We seem to have gone backwards when we went from msata to M.2 sata SSD's. you can get a 1TB msata but only 512GB M.2's. If you can fit in a msata to M.2 slot adapter, you could fit in a 1TB as long as the M.2 slot also has sata protocol. But it would be a backward move in terms of speed.
