exactly my thoughts, they have been building on the same old #### over and over, and did nothing about it until they noticed alternatives are being worked on and surfacing, so they woke up and started to recreate another proper DX, this should have been DX9 not DX12.

you really think that the dev's would let that happen, they'll just make their console to pc ports even less optimised than they already are lol

Sad but true. I can just see Ubisoft now. "Well, DX12 improved performance on pc across the board, so we can be even lazier with our ports now". That's also my fear with the universal play of Win10, will some gets so lazy as to say "Well you can play the xbox version on pc from the app store, so just buy that". I mean any dev that did that wouldn't be worth the money in the first place, but you never know.

I have had windows 10 now since it came out and its the biggest pile of crap, over all its a massive downgrade from Windows 7, almost all the good things about windows have been stripped out then Microsoft try to sell Windows 10 under the Flag DX12, get lost Microsoft you cant even make a reliable Office 365 product any more and now with 3 failed operating systems in succession its clear your the worst Software writer in the world, P.S I now have an Apple Mac Pro twin Zeon and it nocks.

I would [and am] definitely not get too excited over this at all. Microsoft has done so much <rubbish> lately [last few years] that I'm not at all interested in their products any more. I use Linux for Internet and playing multimedia, a console for games and I'm a happy camper. No Microsoft in my life at all for 3 years now. Yay! I feel like those alcoholics or drug addicts confessing their sins... LOL "I was a Microsoft addict, but now I'm free of that <stuff>!" LOL No way back, Jose, no way back...

Yeah... despite the gains DX12 brings, I'm still not gonna upgrade to Windows 10.

DX12 doesn't stop you from modding games and using appls like fraps. You can still do it with DX12. It's the UWP apps (and games) that prevents you from doing it, because unlike win32 apps, they run inside a container (but however you can still use xbox app to get the functionality of fraps etc.)

DX12 and UWP is different things. Don't mix it up. UWP has advantages like cross buy (buy once and play it on PC, Xbox and any other compatible platform) etc. But if you don't like UWP simply buy it from elsewhere. No need locked into Windows store. As a example, every game in this video (exept ones published by MS) available on other stores (steam, gog). You can do everything you just complained (file system access, modding etc) steam or gog version.

btw, they don't force your PC to run Xbox one spec regardless of your build. From where you learned that?. The developers optimize console version of each game to run on console hardware. because unlike the PCs console hardware cannot be upgraded. They do it for both xbox and Playstation. but not the other way as you mentioned.
