are you sure that nexgen for Navi is a spelling mistake?
could be NexGen after all. http://nexgenstorage.com/products/architecture/ seen as there is a company called NexGen who do memory tech..

got an initial theory, that they're teaming up and doing a scalable hybrid memory tech where your system ram adds to gpu ram and CPU cache and vice-versa. one memory to rule them all. buy an 8gb ram stick, itll work as either cpu cache, disc cache, gpu mem and so on..
only an initial theory mind, I'm probably completely wrong

Isn't that *theoretically* what already happens/happened with techs like HyperMemory? I suppose if they can adapt the software side to work with different attachments of volatile RAM it might allow them to do clever stuff with GPU and system memory. Not sure how well it ties in with HSA though...?

not got a clue on that jim.
also had a thought/theory/whatchamacallit that they may do a GPU-PCB that you can add in your own chip and ram to.
so instead of making an entirely new pcb for each speed upgrade, theres just 1 and you replace the chips (like you do with the main system CPU and RAM.) and drop in the faster chip. hence the scalability.
cuts down on pcb waste and packaging.

those are my two theories at least on what might happen.

Thats an interesting idea. Maybe we could see the loss of some PCIE slots and GPU sockets added to AM4 boards.
