I watched the Trailer a few times over the weekend and showed it to anyone that was interested, and we all agreed it 'looked' awesome and brutal. I am personally really looking forward to this game and I think the variety will be pretty decent, the details trickling out from some of the Youtubers make it sound like the classes and skills will be more defined and specific than previous games. It actually struck me a little at a gut-feeling level as being somewhat like Bad Company 2 Vietnam (if that makes sense?)... I hope it isn't too flakey on launch... BF4 and HL were sucky at launch.
They need to bring in a skilled based/rank system based on k/d, sp/m or kp/m as far too much i see low level players getting demolished by high level players with ridiculous scores 120/4. This would definantley make battlefield more fun for everyone.
Yep, anyone coming in new to BF3/BF4 and HL could easily be put off by the outright slaughter they are subjected to sometimes.... It would be good if there were a way to get a balance... but equally, trial by fire works too and players can move onto a different server if the one they are on is too unbalanced. All players will improve over time. Sometimes you just want to play, want free choice of where and when to play and you don't much care.
If you get a ranking system, it could, if it were too restrictive, prevent players from joining their higher level friends... just a consideration.
If they can recapture the fun of BF 1942 and Battlefield 2 then I'm all in, if it's as 'serious' 3 and 4 then I will probably pass.

Interesting opinion/point. I kind of get what you mean, but for me I feel that 1942 and BF2 are more plain, bland and simplistic (but still fun), which is obviously due to the tech available at the time. I do feel the fun of all the games, but for me BF3 is the most fun of all the games I've played in the BF franchise in *Multiplayer*, followed by BF4. For the single player campaigns BC and BC2 are the most fun.
But I do wonder if what you are talking about is as a consequence of the improvements in the graphics and 'realism' that the hardware allows the programmers to use. There is definitely a mix of things going on.
BF3 and BF4 have been criticised for being more arcadey than BF2 and BC1/2 for example,
because the game mechanics of BF3 and 4 are more game like and less realistic, while the visuals and SFX are much more realistic than early games like 1942 and BF2.
Toitally agree. I bought BF3 on PS3 years ago at the urging of some mates who were experience FPS players. I got marmalised all the time and it put me off. I retreated to being an engineer trying to be in a tank all the time (wasn't much better) and didn't learn how to play the classes properly for ages. Would be good to have a bit of an evening up of skills.
Yep, I think this can be true of any game, and each game plays differently, so you almost have to learn fresh for each new game you take up, but after a while you develop your own play style and in the end you adapt... plus a healthy dose of caution and stealthy play helps
