My PCIE slot is now reserved for the Nitro. I see Sapphire announced that their fans will be replaceable by a simple clip out mechanism, which is a plus in my opinion.
Don't waste your money on 3.5GB 970gtx!. It is poor in DX12 and will be memory limited in demanding games. Makes far more sense to buy custom RX480 (Sapphire Nitro for £250) as it has 8GB GDDR5 at 8000Mhz AND Polaris scales extremely well (JayZ xfire of RX480 shows it performs on par with 1080) and it is future proof AND it is capable at DX12.
In games that scale at all. TPU did a xfire review and found that it only scaled properly in 6/16 games. multi-GPU set ups really are not worth considering any more - and mGPU support will only get worse under DX12 as it will be up to the developers to code efficient multi-GPU games. For the games where it does work it'll be great, but expect to see more and more games that see no benefit at all from multiple GPUs...
