    i5-2500K @ 4.3

I bought this Feb'11, a month after the i5 was released and it is still going strong. The rest of the PC has been replaced over the years but never found a compelling reason to upgrade the CPU, I keep thinking of doing it but I doubt the improved performance will be worth the costs.

FX8320. Bought it to set up a few virtual machines with HyperV, hasn't been switched on in 3 months. Currently under a ton of stuff as we've been having building work done.

Intel i7 4960X bought new on auction site when price significantly dropped briefly as next gen had just come out. Cannot see me upgrading for a long time. Air cooled by a NH-U14S it is at 21degrees C as I type (ambiant room temp of 21).

Re: QOTW: Which CPU is inside your PC(s)?

    Phenom II X4 @3.7

Still seeing no compelling reason to upgrade it, either for games or anything else - however I did build a bargain basement i3 for someone last year and that benchmarked quite a bit faster, even when multi-threading on its 4 pseudo-cores (compared to the 4 physical cores of the AMD), which was a bit annoying (for me, not them...) as I'm having to run a huge tower cooler and custom fan setup while the i3 was running entirely stock.

So I'm not blind to the potential performance uplifts available, just not finding anything to force me into it yet. Guess I may upgrade to Zen eventually, if it proves to be any good.

You should overclock it - they 1045T was renowned as a decent overclocker.

Re: QOTW: Which CPU is inside your PC(s)?

Recently had to make some compromises and ended up with a Apple Mac Pro with 2x dual core Xeon 5150... But that didn't cut it so i went ahead and modded it with a Firmware mod and a couple of Quad Core Xeon 5365...
It's probably the only mac around that does NOT have Mac OS installed (it officialy only supports 10.7 Lion and that is a Piece of crap), so its rocking W10 x64 with no problemo!

Re: QOTW: Which CPU is inside your PC(s)?

Main PC: i7-2600k at 4.5GHz on air (5GHz is possible, but requires 1.4+V -> too hot -> too noisy). Rest of the specs in the sidebar thing.
Secondary PC: i5-2500k at 4.2GHz on air
    Subnotebook (11.6"): i3-3217U at 1.8GHz (stock)

    Others:
    ITX Shoebox: i5-2500S Engineering Sample (2.7GHz Quad, 65W ; Q1HH)
Server in the basement: Pentium G840 Engineering Sample (2.8GHz Dual ; Q1FU)
"Retro" games PC1: Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz (stock ; running XP for older games that are buggy or won't work at all on newer OSes)
Retro games PC2: PIII-S Tualatin (1.4GHz, 512KB cache ; with Voodoo II SLI)
Retro games PC3: AMD Am5x86-133 (over or underclocked via switch)
    rescued-from-gold-recycling-idiots: Asus P6NP5 + Socket 8 Pentium Pro 200MHz (512KB cache)
    Dualbox1: Dual PIII-S 1.4GHz on Intel SAI2 Server board (sadly no AGP :( )
    Dualbox2: Dual Xeon Prestonia 3066DP (S604, 3.06GHz) on a MSI E7505 Master-LS2 (MS-9121)
Dualbox3: Dual AMD Opteron 2360SE (2.5GHz K10 Quadcore) on an Asus KFN32-D SLI workstation mobo with 2x Geforce 8800GTX ... a.k.a. my winter room heater

I have a couple oddball systems with unusual hardware too, even though that's not directly CPU related..:

    - Asus P4C800-E Deluxe (i875, S478), Asus CT-479 Pentium M Upgrade kit with Pentium M 770 2.13GHz
    - ASRock 775i65G Rev. 3.0 socket 775 motherboard with intel i865G (ca. 2003 P4 era) chipset, supporting Core 2 Duo/Quad CPUs with DDR RAM and AGP.
    - ASRock Conroe865PE S775 motherboard with i865PE chipset. Similar to the 775i65G above (AGP + DDR), but fullsize ATX rather than µATX.
    - ASRock P4i945GC Socket 478 motherboard with i945GC chipset, running a ridiculously rare 64 bit capable socket 478 Pentium 4 CPU
    - MSI 945GT Speedster A4R: µATX motherboard for Socket M mobile Core2 CPUs with a Core 2 Duo T7200 2GHz
