Another video from the Absolute Zero event, from Asus.
"In this video, overclockers used liquid helium (LHe) to reach the best performance and redefined the limits of overclocking - this is Absolute Zero.
They broke the best Intel Core CPU frequency with 7.383GHz on one core, one thread and 7.328GHz on four cores, eight threads. They also achieved 8 World Records and 13 Global First Places."

Also Dancop achieved SuperPi - 1M score - 4sec 937ms with Intel Core i7 7700K at 7201.7MHz. How much $$$$s of Liquid Helium did that use?

I don't get some peoples issues with this. As a hobby, pushing hardware to the max seems like a decent one. Though I will agree that using liquid helium for something with little practical value does seem wasteful.

The issue, if not known, is that unlike Hydrogen which can be simply generated from 'cracking' water, Helium is a reducing global resource which is why the waste is so bad and the costs so high.

As stated, a closed loop system that reused the Helium would have been useful.
Also not just Goggles were needed but also gloves and general coverings for exposed skin etc!!!
Simple splashes can cause very unpleasant injuries if you are unlucky.

While that's true, cooling helium back down to a liquid state takes a considerable amount of resources. It's just not practical for overclocking experiments. There are far more wasteful abuses of helium resources.

At those temperatures, the materials involved would become superconductors, which would rater defeat the object of semiconductors - so Im just a bit sceptical about this - need more information such as how the cooling was achieved.

Helium is a rare element and global supply is really limited. What a bunch of a-holes. What kind of carbon footprint was incurred flying them halfway across the world just for bragging rights? Intel must be really desperate now that AMD is back.
