Blind tests and the resulting opinions work better on something only really described more subjectively, something we can't accurately apply numbers to.
This is not one of those cases, where numbers are absolutely going to colour decisions more than "opinions".

Doom? DOOM?! This is a game which, on this kind of set up, will be achieving 3 figure frame rates at times. Add in the frame syncing tech and you'll of course end up with no discernible performance difference. You need a game which is going to tax these systems properly and where minimum frame rate will be an issue and result in detectable performance issues. This is a totally irrelevant test. I can understand why they say they chose Doom but frankly it wasn't a real choice in terms of actually comparing performance because neither card should display any performance issues at all. I would expect the AMD system to be "snappier" because of course they're going to optimise primarily for use with their own CPUs.

It would have been nice if they got one of the monitor pairs that are identical except for the adaptive sync tech used

When we are asking questions about value in our interviews, this is where the "$300 difference in cost" comes from, however it is a bit more than that. AMD did not tell us what the RX Vega video card's MSRP would be, so we did not consider this in our value question.

Yeah, I already know Vega can run Doom well. I've seen it ad nauseam over the past year. Vega Runs. Doom. Well. Does it do anything else?
