I have not OC since maybe the 3rd gen of the i7's.

It was a lot of flaffing around and my time these days are extremely limited now.

i work 9-5, go gym after work and then i relax with the missus. On weekends i am socalising and doing photography.

So i dont have time to maintain OCed computer these days and also the likes of LR/photoshop and the games i play(PCARS2,PES,SQUAD) already run past 60fps

I ran an overclocked 2600K bundle from the 3XS guys at Scan for around 5 years before it started to become unstable last year. It's back at stock frequency now - poor thing must've just had enough.

Would be tempted with this but... I think I'd rather go with AMD's 2nd round as the CPU wars are back on.
Yes it's been a while! If there is a Ryzen price cut then I might be tempted by a Ryzen 5 1600 in the £150-160 range or the Ryzen 5 1400 if it ends up around the £130 mark, but I'd most likely get the 1600 for extra cores and L3 cache. I doubt i can wait for Ryzen 2 but you never know!.. I might hold out if there's no significant price cut for ryzen this year.

again and again. why is intel still pushing a quad core as a high end chip? make 6 cores and 8 cores with 4 megs of l3 cache. sell it in the same spot you put the stupid i7 quad core. its not that hard.

Erm ... they're not? The only quad cores in this announcement are the i3s, which are *not* high end chips. The i5 and i7 are 6 core. There is no quad core i7.
