By people I think they meant game studios. In which case the answer is yes, why would old games get remade in dx11 or 12? If lumireleon meant players then the answer the same as the first scenario.

Wow, for once it's a bug I seem to be unaffected by *touch wood*. I've tested out Gw2 and had no issue, I've been playing Payday 2 with no issue and I've just launched Skyrim not SE with all my mods through NMM for the first time since I upgraded and the only issue I noticed was chill and mouse movements being a bit off.

Hopefully they'll fix it soon for others.

You're probably not using the dx9 versions of the games.

As a side note, this is really irrelevant, people that play dx9 only games should just stick to the old driver, problem solved, why make a fuss? I'm sure AMD had a very good reason to ignore 10+ year old games on their brand new driver.

I hope AMD can fix this issue because my love for those older games is far far greater than my love for some new driver.

I do believe Microsoft are where they are today because of some dodgy hacks in the early days that maintained backwards compatibility with old software. Simply put an OS or driver that breaks things is a very hard sell. I don't want a broken driver or the hardware that goes with it.

What if you play both new and old games?! I would say that applies to many, if not most, gamers.

AFAIK those 3 are all DX9 only games.

Re: AMD Adrenalin driver DX9 issues "unlikely" to be fixed

Seems to be mainly sage engine games (C&C). However I had to roll back to 17.11.x for stability in Destiny 2, for some reason it really didn't want to play nice and the drivers kept crashing on my R9 290 due to Wattman which wasn't even enabled. So until they fix the Adrenaline driver I'm not touching it.

Seems AMD's driver guru just responded to Hexus on Twitter. A hotfix is incoming: https://twitter.com/CatalystMaker/st...24999726501890

This is yet another reason why Gamers shouldn't invest in AMD tech anymore. It's crap. It's still crap. And the heads behind the company and design have those heads buried securely up their asses ignoring reality and their customer base. Their cards do great crypto-mining numbers, but are 'meh' gaming cards. The drivers are atrocious!

Tried Adrenaline on a 580 8GB card on Friday and the hashing numbers were terrible. So much for adding in that 'compute' optimize setting, yeah?

Even the modern "Crimson" drivers are terrible. Took them almost a year to even release a working Crimson driver for the R9 380.

But you still like them enough to keep buying the cards?

To be honest, I think the AMD drivers have been better than the green team's of late.

    *lightly coughs*

So you support a single vendor market of GPUs? Or do we need to bring out the F word?

In my earlier comment i was more getting at the fact that something is substantially different about the execution of the DX9 layer for that engine. I was poking at that because if they are using non standard DX9 functionality that AMD may not have accounted for because it was non standard then either AMD or Microsoft (or both) are at fault with the underlying issue caused by the developer of the games. Now if it was a problem with DX9 as a whole then i would lean on AMD harder but until i can find out the exact elements which are failing and see if they are part of the DX9.0c core stack or part of the main deliverables then it is everyone at fault here.

I don't recall any serious problems with my R9 380 and the Crimson Edition drivers. I've continually got more features and better performance since the first release.

They are fixing the problem, that is product support. If they fix it fast, it will be good support

Edit: I was at work before and just quickly skimmed the article so missed that this is all down to some poor support guy who is probably being hauled over the coals for making a poorly informed comment that has gone viral.
