You all need to look at Windows 10 LTSB. It's Windows 10 without the Windows 10. No apps, no Cortana, no Edge. It has all the under the hood improvements but none of that other rubbish. Not designed for personal use really but works fine once it is set up. Still gets all the security updates, but no feature updates!

This is what life with Cortana disabled looks like, it still runs and on my home system sometimes takes up to 80mb RAM doing I'm not sure what. Has basically no active features there or here. At least the Search feature is just Search now and doesn't do anything I find frustrating.

Maybe moving Cortana to its own little area will make it possible to uninstall without deleting Search from your desktop. I don't really understand why the two had to be... conjoined... anyway.

But most of us don't have access to the Enterprise licencing we'd need to get LTSB.

Re: Microsoft Cortana to move from Search to Action Centre

So long as I can keep disabling it and hiding the icon, and opting out of using Microsoft Siri, I don't really care where they move the icon to.

One of the most useless parts to degrade the performance of Microsoft Windows, right next to the included spyware and data collection; the so-called 'Telemetry' modules.
