    It's merely karma...

So I should be able to d/l a 1GB file in, what, 8 seconds theoretically? 8 Gbits in a Gbyte, and all that?

With a perfect connection, yeah. Easily doable in 10 seconds. Takes me about 21s on a 380mbit.

But you have the overhead to consider - the transfer isn't all user data (packet headers, error correction, and the overheads of the TCP protocol)

Interesting, there's quite a few people already on Vivo 350 including myself. It randomly appeared on my account when I renewed my contract

Yeah I know. That's why I'm expecting to get maybe 4Mbps on my 1gig line, based on previous "up to" assertions from companies.

Re: Virgin Media UK to intro 350Mbps broadband package

Press release from Virgin just arrived to say:

"We’ve just announced that Virgin Media 350Mbps broadband services – the UK’s fastest widely available broadband – are now available.
Customers can now sign up to 350Mbps services online and existing customers already taking Virgin Media’s fastest package (previous VIVID 300) will be automatically transferred onto new VIVID 350 service at no extra cost.
The increase in headline speed – from 300Mbps to 350Mbps – is more than the UK’s average broadband speed which is just 44Mbps."
