QOTW: Do you shut down your PC?

I start mine, use it, then shut it down. They start up so fast these days so you might as well.

I do leave it on to render work etc, but even then I queue enough so its actively doing something all the time I am away.

My HTPC/media server does run 24/7, but I built that with power saving in mind.

With Windows 10 you have to Restart, or turn off fast start, else it will run like crap after a while.

Start up and shut down every time. Booting up takes seconds and the energy saved isnt massive but it all counts.

I almost exclusively use laptops nowadays anyway, which are set with sleep/hibernate options when I close the lid, so virtually never get shut down (noticed while prodding it a few days ago that I was approach 30 days up time, although I've just had an updates restart so I'm at less than a day now). Modern PCs have such good sleep power states that I honestly don't think the power draw is an issue.

yes, i shut down my gaming pc. but only because of a power bill issue, in the past i used to keep it on ad do stuff like folding@home/seti, 24/7 web cam stuff,

Since both PCs are non-laptops, I shut them down if I'm going to be away for the night or at least a couple of hours.

Usually just put the pc to sleep and pull out the ethernet cable.

My PC is fanless and helps heat the home so I leave it on, unless I'm going to be away for a couple of nights or more, in which case it goes off.

Laptop goes to sleep after 5-10 minutes and gets rebooted occasionally.

Back in the old days I would leave it on 24/7 just because the computer and internet was so slow I would download and run tasks over night, these days with faster machines and internet I shut down and switch off the mains every night, it is all for energy saving and fire safety people

Depends - most are shut off when not needed but "work" pc tends to be on and my NAS box is 24/7

Unless I have a large download or am encoding multiple videos I always shut off my PC if i'll be away more than 30 minutes.
