Be Careful on the Internet! I ran and tackled a drive by mining attack today. It's not designed to do anything than provide fake texts (say!)
Why on earth would anyone play an FPS using anything other than a mouse and keyboard? It is that long. Somebody is making a mod that allows ray-tracing in Quake 2 currently:

Quake will never die.
I am about to raise a controversial topic but here goes...
How about Microsoft creating a bulletproof DRM & copy protection system as a core part of the OS, and then banning all the crappy third party ones that just make PC gaming an exercise in frustration.
Kind of like steam, or modern consoles where the DRM is there, but you don't notice it because it just works and keeps out of the way.
Modern CPUs support secure enclaves, and nested virtualisation without a performance penalty so it should be possible to bake that sort of thing deep into the OS and chipset, where the crackers can't get at it unless they have very exotic and expensive diagnostic kit, and if they try they just brick their PCs.
I think they are just waking up to the threat of the combination of linux, vulkan and steam.
I was amazed how much better the native linux version of Battletech was than windows 10.
The only reason that windows 10 is the major gaming OS is the laziness of the AAA games developers.
There is no such thing as a bulletproof DRM system....especially when you talk about systems where low level access is possible.
I think you'll find the Windows Store was Microsofts stab at that idea. All they did was make the management of downloads harder, games are still cracked quite quickly.

Honestly I think Microsoft should stay out of it. I know they won't but it's what I think. Everything they have tried that I have seen has been an active hindrance or outright failure for gaming.
I remember the game explorer with Vista:
https://windows-cdn.softpedia.com/screenshots/Vista-Game-Explorer-Editor_1.jpg
It had less functionality than a desktop shortcut. Need to run a game in comparability mode etc? Too bad, can't do it from here. Waste of time.
I remember Games for Windows Live. The less said about that the better.
I remember and still see how they lock people into a version of Windows by using DirectX. I.e DirectX 10 is Windows 10 only. Vulkan will run on "Android, Linux, Tizen, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10"
So yeah... the less Microsoft have to do with PC gaming, the better.
Windows should create an built in app for tweaking games software to utilize and maximize the performance.
Windows should remove useless and unproductive built in apps line "bing" etc...
Windows should have user controls for windows update not to force update if you know what i mean. Because not all user's have unlimited data plans.
Windows should release legit windows lite version of OS.
