Re: QOTW: What resolution do you game at?

On my desktop, 1920x1080x60, 22 inch, over DVI-D. I had a smaller secondary monitor, but it died and I haven't really felt the need to replace it. Just added a monitor arm mount a couple weeks ago, though, to reclaim desk space and raise it to a better position.

Since it's on my desk, my viewing distance is probably 3-4 feet, so I don't see the point in getting a 4K display for a while, unless I get a 27 inch or larger screen. Viewing distance calculators hint anything less and 4K wouldn't be noticeable.

1920x1080 27inch Asus 2ms monitor from 2012 or so. I have wanted to upgrade to 4k, except the pricing is still too high. Then to have to decide between IPS or TN and then find one with no light bleed etc etc etc.. can be very time consuming and a pain in the butt.

    4K with settings tailored to 120fps on a Wasabi Mango UHD430 using 2 1080 Ti's.

Re: QOTW: What resolution do you game at?

1920x1080 on a 21.5" Viewsonic VX2260wm. It was cheap and it's pretty old, but it still looks good to my eyes. It's developed a few thin red lines that run vertically down the screen, but they're invisible unless you get right up close and low to a bright image.

Secondary "monitor" is a sweet 43" 4k HDR Sony Bravia XE70, which I only run in 1080p else everything is too small to see (also, mirrored desktop). It upscales beautifully though. I've recently been looking at new monitors, and have tested the Sony at 2560x1440 and it looks great. Oddly, the Nvidia drivers display the desktop on it at 1440p, but through a 2160p signal. Didn't know this was even a thing, but regardless, it looks good.

Next monitor will be a 27" 1440p screen. Not bothered about high refresh, as I only have a GTX 970. Just have to figure out where I'll put my speakers, as a 27" would be as wide as my desk!

Re: QOTW: What resolution do you game at?

Depends where I am and what.

Home with an RX580 and 2 UHD monitors, its 3840x2160, 2560x1440 or 1920x1080 depending on visuals and frame rates and which I prioritise in each game, both monitors a 60hz IPS.

At work with an AMD 7750 (With Phenom II x6) its and a 1440p monito irs either 2560x1440 or 1920x1080 is the same as above, this is a 75hz VA panel.

I don't play any twitch fest online games and generally use xbox controllers to which I generally go for visuals at a stable frame rate (30fps works for me in many games) its all down to personal preference.

22" 1680x1050, not gonna upgrade to 1080 as its not a big enough jump, maybe 1080 ultrawide? And 75hz of course, just can't afford the upgrade, love the 16x10 though, should be more of a standard, need something that taxes my 980ti a bit more, plus the fx8350 holds it back a bit so no point doing really high refresh rate

1440p and absolutely no plans to go 4K on PC. Have XBX1 doing 4k & HDR in the living room.

4K, but end up with ~30fps. Still prefer this for the kind of games I play.

    1440.

    my 3570k and 1070 are maxxed to get 1400p @ 60fps
I'd be looking at a new core upgrade + monitor to get any higher.

3440x1440 Ultrawide - No immediate plans to change, planning a new build first, would go wider after that...

2560x1080 on a 29" Dell. Works well for my gaming PC and for my work laptop as a second screen to no plans to upgrade.

Re: QOTW: What resolution do you game at?

I was interested so did a quick tally so far, here it is:

    Code:
    Format Users MPixels
    768 1 1.0
    1050 2 1.8
    1080 18 2.0
    1200 8 2.3
    1080UW 3 2.8
    1440 27 3.7
    1440UW 6 5.5
    4k 10 8.0
I included how many pixels you get in each resolution as a rough measure of how much work the GPU has to do to service that sort of monitor.

Edit: That was one fast read through tallying as I went, I didn't check my work and figured it would be close enough. Happy to take corrections.

    320x200 / 16 color, I know, it is high end,but hey...when money is not problem :-)
