That's better value but still no Nexus 5 (Snapdragon 800 series for £330 with decent OS support). First pixel that has got me interested but I still can't bring myself to spend £300+ on a phone. Added to that, my £80 Swift 2 x is still OK for most tasks so I don't think I'll be purchasing.
Once the hype has died down & I've sold my Pixel 3, I'll await the reviews and check it out in shops before considering a purchase. I do appreciate having one android phone that I know will receive long term support but boy stock android is boring now.
Best implementation of android I've used is still One+'s Oxygen OS. Not full of bloat but enough extras that are truely useful whilst still looking fairly stock & being lightening fast.
These are still such bad value even in the mid-range segment that it's painful. They're for the android equivalent of the Apple crowd. My Poco F1 is much cheaper and much faster and has a bigger battery and latest Pie and a headphone jack. And has been out for ages.
I'm not going to argue that they're bad value as that's in the eye of the beholder & they are much better specced phones available for less money. But I would like to know how the NFC is working out for you on your Poco F1??? And barring 3rd party roms do you really think you'll still be getting OS & Security updates in 2021?? Or even hows the camera on the Poco F1, especially at night time. Dont get me wrong the Poco is a great phone for the money but it also has some major compromises, especially for the western market.
I'm going to agree with Jimborae here. I bought into the Xiaomi when you could only purchase from China. Got a redmi Note 2 Prime - Super cheap, super powerful phone for just over £88. Couldn't have beaten it for £300 in the UK but it only ever got updates to MIUI, never the android OS. Still stuck on 5.1 it had the day I bought it. Had to give it up within a year as apps I used needed 6.0. I will not buy a phone I cannot get two years of updates out of unless its super cheap (like my swift 2x which at least got 8.1).
