My phone. It's not better than anyone else's, nor technically astounding, but it holds data of value and makes things possible I would never have imagined even 10 years ago.

Tough one.. At one point I might've said my projector when I had one.

I have lots of tech that is valuable to me if only because I *need* it like the laptop that is falling apart that I am using to type this post. Ditto for my phone. My many HD and memory card is valuable for what they hold. But those things, but they aren't prized in the sense that I will be telling my friends "guess what I just got". I suppose that if I was to get a drone, that would become my most prized tech possession for a while.

If we can drop the word "tech", I think that one of my most prized possession is a snowboard signed by the very Olympic gold medallist the board is named after (and used by - not the very one I have, but that model).. The board is still serving me great too.

Has to be my HTPC, originally constructed in like 2005. A bit like Trigger's broom, possibly only the case is original.

It's changed use model over the years from time-shift TV and is now primarily a NAS box with cloud backup, but is still carries all rip and transcode duties (low power i7 FTW).

Oh, that would be a different problem.

I'm a book nut and I have some .... unusual ... books. Some first-ed Dickens, some very early Shakespeare, et.al. Monetary value? Dunno for certain, but probably significant, if valuations are anywhere near correct. Enough to be a major insurance headache, at least. Also, don't care what they're worth 'cos short of dire need, I'll never sell, so it doesn't matter.

Also, a mid-19th Century silver fob watch I inherited from Dad, who inherited it from hus Dad. Value? Not totally sure but not much. Maybe £100. Again, don't care.

Or, some marquetry pieces Dad made, and gave me. Monetary value? Nil, probably. Sentimental value? Beyond measure. God help any thief that nicked those if I ever catch up with him. I'd end up doing time. And it'd be worth it. Now they really are prized.

But it's totally different (for me, at least) for "tech" stuff, none of which is prized lime those.

    My Steam account?

Can't think of anything else I own that isn't pretty easily replaced. Probably more valuable than any other tech item I own too!

Re: QOTW: What is your most prized tech possession?

    A brain-wrenchingly subjective QOTW, this...

Prized - Valuable and highly sought after?
    Aside from the PC.... Dunno.

If you want some kind of significance in life, I guess my 10.5" Acer Netbook counts, as it was my only PC when I relocated and was working my way up from a rented studio room... I spent a good couple of years playing any game it would run. Add to that one of several PDA phones, since I exercised choice of form and function over fashion trend (and financial splash) when everyone else was going iPhone-mad... which I continue to do.

Or I could just look at whatever my latest treasure is, in this case a Nitecore TUP - 1/15/60/200/1,000 lumen output with stonking battery life and an LED display, all in a package the size of a car key. I'm currently the envy of all my torch geek friends. Yay me...

But if we move away from the electronic side of things, there are various other options. Motorcycles and cars are pretty stunning and iconic technology... but so too are my Swiss Army Knives and my lensatic & prismatic compasses.

Re: QOTW: What is your most prized tech possession?

Can't say i've ever had one. Tech becomes obsolete, or at least less shiny, in such a relatively short period of time.

There is an old laptop in the loft, old, I mean really old. It's useless but it was my dads and he's not around anymore, so yeah, that isn't going anywhere. But then that's a piece of tech prized for something other than it being a piece of tech.
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.

Re: QOTW: What is your most prized tech possession?

It would have to be my desktop computer, built it myself (like the last, say, 20 desktops I've owned, I do it for a living), it's special 'cause it took me a long time to get the right parts and it finally feels like the kind of computer I want to keep longer than a couple of years. Ended up spending about $1,500 (USD, around 1,400 quid maybe) and I feel quite proud of it.

Re: QOTW: What is your most prized tech possession?

Well I still have a Alienware X51 from the year of 2011, I’ve upgraded the cpu from i3 2120 to i5 3450 and the gpu from the original got 640 to a gtx 1050 and that’s it. It’s worth nothing and I’ve been saying for the last couple of years I’m going to replace it but I just don’t have the heart to get rid of it.
