Re: Your Phone app adds Calls feature in Windows 10 18999

One more benefit from me - my phone is almost always on silent, particularly in the office, which means I miss calls all the time. Getting a (silent) desktop notification of incoming calls would be really useful for me - 99.9% of the time I could just ignore/reject it, but it'd mean I wouldn't miss that 0.1% that I actually want to answer...

I'd imagine that you could probably set up some sort of profile setting on your phone so that you could have it stick to silent as a rule, but actually ring for a select few contacts, without actually needing to use this app.

This is more about identifying the user of a phone and tracking their behaviour, rather than productivity.

What, like all your service providers don't already do?

Re: Your Phone app adds Calls feature in Windows 10 18999

The SMS part doesn't matter, there's already messages.google.com for getting notifications on your desktop, and I'm pretty sure it works on any desktop platform. (It would be nice to have it integrated directly into the OS, instead of going through a web browser, though.)

Regarding the calls... other than having maybe support for more easily calling numbers you looked up on the web on your desktop, not sure what this gains for most people. My bluetooth headsets already hook up to multiple devices, so I can be listening to music from my computer and have my phone ring. The only exception would be if people wanted to sit in front of their computer and just use the computer's mic and speakers, as people have pointed out, which would be nice while collaborating in a call, but most calls like that are done through online based systems already...
