Hope they do it in plain black...

And can we re-size images, that one's come out a bit big...

An enhanced version of GTA V... sounds like some low hanging fruit for rockstar. That game is a money printer for them.

I prefer the less flamboyant xbox design to be honest, i'd rather something that doesn't try to stand out from the rest of my living room.

I wonder if they used the same design team as Netgear do?

It's primarily designed to be vertical, you only need to look at the vent designs to see that, not to mention to get it 'horizontal', you still need to put it on the stand, almost like an afterthought.... still doesn't change the fact it looks like a cheap toy to me.

Does to me as well. Where is the nice industrial design look, that is horizontal so it fits in an AV space? This thing looks worse than some of those routers that have permeated the market.

It looks terrible, I'm hoping that's because they've prioritised and succeeded in reliability and venting heat out of system.

PS5 looks like it'll have issues, again, making a generational hat trick.

So people don't pay for the cost of a 4k blu-ray drive if they're not going to use it.

Re: Sony takes the wraps off its PlayStation 5 consoles

Most PC gamers use digital distribution,so a cheaper version with no optical drive,is a good idea IMHO.

True this, I've not had a DVD/CD-Rom in my PC for 7 years, and the PC before this one did have one but I hadn't used it in years!

Options are good. Each route is likely to appeal to some people and the only real issue, assuming the manufacturer doesn't have strategic reasons for one or the other, is if "some" people is enough to justify the extra product line. That Sony are doing it suggests they think it does.

Personally, I like owning things though and paying a one-off cost, not a subscription .... for mot things, at least.

Re: PS5 it's probably academic for mee if that £600 price-tg rumour is correct as I don't envision paying that for a games console. Which is a shame. Maybe a discounted PS4 if stock gets dumped when the 5 comes out. Maybe.

EDIT - not entirely the ugliest device I've seen, but I'd FAR prefer something less showy, less in yer face.

Re: Sony takes the wraps off its PlayStation 5 consoles

I'd still take the drive as I prefer physical media. Recent events proves that digital media can disappear at a whim (not looking to get into a debate here) and not everyone has good internet access even though some day 1 patches are 50GB plus these days.

I believe that digital only distribution will become more prevalent with the next gen along with the games as a service model being pushed more.

I will hold off for a couple of hardware revisions before I consider this or the Xbox Series X though.
