Re: QOTW: Do you wear a smartwatch?

I've got a very nice TagHeuer that I never wear when I got into running and general health and fitness a couple of years ago I got back into wearing one starting off with a Suunto Spartan Sport WHR and have just swapped it over for a Garmin Fenix 6xPro. I wouldn't buy the apple/android watch with the <24hr battery life it would do my nut in. Garmin 2/3 weeks.

Re: QOTW: Do you wear a smartwatch?

Nope. I haven't worn a watch in close to 15 years... probably since I got my first mobile phone back in 2006, actually. There wasn't really anything about smart watches that changed that calculus for me.

No. My Animal and Citizen analogue watches do all that I need them to do, tell the time. The only portable "smart" device I need is my phone, a Moto G7 Power. Smart watches don’t have the battery life I’d want to even consider buying one for the “fun” of it.

I've worn Fossil men's smartwatches for about 5 years now. I find it handy.

Re: QOTW: Do you wear a smartwatch?

I've worn a watch most of my life. But have no intention of getting a smartwatch.

    Main reasons:
-I don't want to deal with another battery to charge daily.
-i don't require any smartwatch features i've seen.

I just have a cheapish Casio, which:
-lasts for years on it's battery
    -waterproof, light and durable
-keeps the time set correctly via radio (thats the only real handy 'smart' feature in a watch i like )

Regarding the people inevitably saying thier mobile phone is a replacement: Doesn't work for me, fishing a phone out of your pocket then clicking a button is a damn sight longer process than just glancing at your wrist.

I've got one but I never wear it. Complete waste of money as far as I'm concerned.

Re: QOTW: Do you wear a smartwatch?

i got the first apple watch as it looked cool like the idea of the future that we had in the 70s of everyone wearing white etc. the potential for what it could do was also amazing, but even now it can't do the main things i was hoping it could do

in saying that, it was useful at times in that i could see messages on my wrist in the office and in meetings that avoided the requirement to pull out my phone or get stared at for "playing" with my phone in a meeting. on public transport when packed it can be easier to answer calls or see messages without trying to squeeze the phone out of your pocket. but these are minor conveniences

as a lazy git who hates sports, i have no desire to find out how close i am to death or find out i've only walked 13 steps on average a day, so the fitness tracker stuff isn't important to me. being able to change tracks when playing music is easier said than done on the watch. if someone is sitting next to you on public transport it can be easier to use the watch than try and get the phone out the jeans pocket

i like the changing straps idea, so i have loads of them in all different colours so i can match it with what i'm wearing, so it's mainly a fashion item with minor conveniences. i remember my dad had one of the old red LED watches in the 70s and always liked the black screen look, but i'd prefer the always on options the new ones have

i have a few other cheapo smartwatches i bought online, a few were only about £5, but by the time most turned up, lockdown started so i've not tried them out. i don't wear a watch inside

i'm more of a gshock person. i've love a nice tag or rolex but rather spend that type of money on bigger tellys and tech stuff

    No 'smart'watch for me.
I've got my 1964 Omega Speedmaster Professional, left to me by my late father.
Does everything i need a watch to do.

Real people wear mechanical watches... that is my view on it.

Re: QOTW: Do you wear a smartwatch?

Wanted an Apple Watch since they were first released but the lack of an always-on display was always the killer for me. When they launched the Series 5 with the Always-On Retina Display I jumped at it.

Haven't regretted it at all. Use it every single day, battery lasts me about 18-20 hours, charges from empty to full in about 45 minutes, it's fast, the Siri functionality is excellent. I love it.

The only thing I feel like it's missing is the ability to store music and connect to my AirPods. Being able to leave my phone at home for short periods while out for a walk or a run would be excellent.

No. I haven't worn a watch daily for over 20 years. I have a cheap rugged, waterproof solar powered casio if im outdoors and a citizen eco-drive for dress occasions.

Re: QOTW: Do you wear a smartwatch?

No smart watch until they can match the size and battery life of my current watch.

For reference my current watch is a Seiko Kinetic so 15 years of no battery changes or charging so far (ok it charges when I move but this is a automatic thing with no user input needed).

Re: QOTW: Do you wear a smartwatch?

does sport tracker count as smart-watch?
Sometimes, but it is rather an accessory than a watch. The most useful function is find my phone
