Nope, I don't think I've ever bothered with pre-order on anything... and to be honest I'd normally wait a short while before buying too just to ensure all the 'bugs' are worked out first.

I wanted to pre-order the PS5 but being unemployed at the time made the decision for me. I've got myself employment lined up now, so I'll probably be looking to pick one up in the new year.
Gran Turismo 7 and Ratchet & Clank are the titles that attract me, as well as the 4K Blu Ray player, so we can sell the Xbox One S (used only for 4K Blu Ray) and the PS4 Pro to help fund the upgrade.
Never had any issues with consoles and they have priced it quite keenly so I think the price will stay the same for a while.

I've never bought a console, and can't see myself ever having a use for one.
Even if I did decide to trade my PC in for a console, I'd still follow the tenets of House Biscuit, "We Do Not Pre-Order"
You may bd right, but personally, I'm not interested in the online-only variants, and if the prices for the full fat versions are 'keen' and don't change much over time, then I simply won't do it at all.

not preordering any console. gonna wait and see what they are like in stores and read many reviews.
the Xbox has a slight advantage with there pass, if it ever gets to my country to.
One of my friends ordered the xbox and my brother i think ordered a PS5.
Myself, i'm not much of a console gamer so none for me.
Though i might wait a few months and see how cheap used PS4s get and grab one of those
