But EA is not a game company anymore...
That seems like a very good possibility, but spending 1.2Bn to get Codemasters seems like they're going to carry on as normal. (Either way is bad news for the consumer, do we ever get any good news?)
Then use the Dirt5 games engine to power all there other franchises.. BF Dizzy edition, Burnout micro machine edition.
Shame. Can you imagine an EA version of Dizzy? You click on the tree trunk to lift the bark and a pop up appears "pay $0.99 to find out what item you've uncovered...." and to get the aqualung you have to either buy the underwater DLC pack or have completed 20000 fluffle catches in the warm-up arena. RIP Codemasters.
Loot boxes for tyres then

Pity they don't sell some of the ip imagine Nintendo buying dizzy and micro machines! Imagine the Nintendo magic Mario style on Dizzy
This doesn't look good for code masters. I firmly believe EA ruins everything they touch
The deal has now concluded.
After playing The Crew 2, I might have been a bit doomer initially. As long as Codemasters are allowed to keep making Dirt Rally, Dirt and Grid type games, I guess I'll be happy. But I know the big franchise for EA is the F1 series with their microtransanctions. Hopefully the other games will remain...

Oh no, I found out today that Slightly Mad Studios was bought by Codemasters in Nov 2019. They were the makers of the Project Car series and previously the NFS SHIFT series. So guess EA owns them outright now...

I'll keep an open mind, but this doesn't look like a positive move...
When EA is involved it rarely is these days IMO
I see it as a neutral move, EA are known for releasing the same game with updated graphics year after year, adding live service "features" and then nickel and diming you on DLC.
Anyone who's played Codemasters F1 games knows they already do all of that so I can't see any change.
I'm hoping they keep it to F1 series only. I play them but don't bother with the DLC's. However, knowing EA's track record from the past, I fear their practices will infect the other games, which will be a real shame.
