Re: Samsung preparing wide range of OLED laptop displays

I wonder if they have taken care of the essentials? Screen burn, etc? Also, I wonder if the issues around array shapes and text resolution is still there? There was an issue with mobile displays that meant you would see poorly resolved text at 1080 but this would disappear on 1440. Given the size difference between mobile displays and a laptop display, I wonder if this issue is to make a comeback?

I hope everybody really loves dark mode as OLED is very power hungry unless everything is very dark.
Although this NBC review of the OLED Thinkpad Yoga
    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo...battery%20life
    says the
"Update 06/18: The WQHD IPS panel manages a runtime of 6:05 hours in our Wi-Fi test, which is basically identical to the OLED model."
Earlier in the review they also said
"Please note: compared to an IPS panel, the power consumption of an OLED display varies much more with the screen content. At idle, we measured a difference of 5 watts depending on if we chose a light or dark background."

This panel will be used in high end business laptops, when working time is very important, hope they will manage to make it durable enough.

I started using dark mode on my phone. I much prefer it and there is a noteable improvement in battery life.

I am just waiting for the phrase "dark mode" to be classified as racist and being banned.

Same on my old phone. On the new one I alter the position of the videos, etc.

MicroLED needs to come already. Feels like we're waiting an age for things to come around in display technology, but maybe I'm just too impatient. I can't enjoy OLED completely due to the anxiety around burn in - even though they've improved it over the years.
