Interesting result, so the 10GB 3080 copes but an 8GB card doesn't.

I guess they don't tune the game for 8GB cards at 4K. That seems a defensible position tbf, you could argue they are getting the most out of the 3080 there.

It also seems close enough that dropping a few settings might get the 3070 some more frames.

Wonder where all those defending the 3080 only coming with 8GB are now?
Never mind Apple, Nvidia have been planning obsolescence in their cards for years now. The 1.5GB 580 and the 2Gb 680 didn't age well at all.

It comes with 10GB doesn't it?

It's the 3070 that's the problem, and many of us said so at the time. Might be a close thing between getting mem saving features from DX12 in enough games that it's less important, but today there are a few use cases that catch it out.

Okay, I had confused the two.

But still, 10GB isn't going to last long either as before the next gen consoles have really started there are already games with can't cope with 8GB.

I'm just surprised that many 3060's actually made it into Gamers hands

Re: GeForce RTX 3060 debuts at number 84 in Steam HW Survey

I've searched my email and can't find it. So much junk advertising monitors at me, it's lost in the noise. And yes, the backlight is worse than normal IPS stuff. I'm wondering if my wife bought it and I gave her my old one.

I cheaped out and paid the price. It's not terrible, but it's not worth getting a lower end 4K monitor.

Not quite sure what they are doing with all that memory because the game looks pretty average outside one or two places and in general the texture quality is low.

My guess is they slapped it together and then tuned it until performance no longer sucked at 4K as long as you had 10GB of vram, then they stopped making any effort.
