Talking to people in real life.
I use Twitter, mainly for news (from BBC sources), weather, a couple of family members and a few Labour MPs. My list of followers is tightly controlled and very short, as is the list I follow and, my block list is very, very long. To call it "social" media is probably an oxymoron.
The pub.
Are Reddit and Imgur social media?
If so, them, if not, none.
None of them. If, say, product support requires the use of one of them, I'm not buying that product.
Youtube is the only social media i am on, and i am taking steps ( however slowly ) to change that to none.
Or that is i might open 10 or so burner accounts to use instead and always via VPN and if uploading only unlisted.
Also i use tumbler to share photos posted unlisted, otherwise i am not frequenting the place.
I regularly use Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and Twitter but I'm most often on Facebook.
I try my best not to use any, I think talking to people in person is better.
There is nothing social about any social media platform. I'm not social enough to matter, so why bother. It's all kids, cats and politics anyway...
Don't use them anymore, in the early days they were great for connecting with old friends that you've not see in a long time or new ones that are friends of friends...
In the end I found myself drawn to social media like I needed a fag before my first breath in the morning, every time I'd look at my phone the first thing I'd do is find the Blue F app and waste my time look at posts, videos and try to gain "likes" so I can feel socially wanted or included. I found myself getting pissy because so-called friend would "like" other posts and ignore my own. The problem wasn't them, it was the app and the bore it made me become.
Now its like a cattle market for media sales and a platform for hysteria and fake news.
I've been Facebook clean now for almost 2 years , I have now become an OLD person that likes to talk to the friend that "Like" me for me and want to talk face to face.
I often ask myself "Do I miss Facebook?". Clearly its "HELL NO".
I use the toilet wall. It's a bit better than Tw*tter as you get less abuse and pornographic responses. And it doesn't sell your data.
Is a phone ( smart phone ) social media, it is at least the main access portal to the stuff as i understand it ?
If so i do have one, i am on it ( screen time ) about 10 - 15 minutes every day, that is also more than i generally talk on it in a week.
On average i get about 10 notifications a day, this is mainly from the CCTV camera aimed at my parked car, and is mostly me going on or coming home from a drive.
I think it is pretty safe to say the first pandemic Phoneitis i am immune to the stuff.
A couple of weeks ago i yelled "zombies" as i drove by a bunch of kids at a bus stop with their faces buried in their phones.
None really. They all seem corrupt, warp the minds of impressionable, and spread/incite hate.
None really. I've never used Facebook and I've only used Twitter to read the occasional tweet. My work colleagues have a couple of Whatsapp groups, that are mainly used for banter.
