Re: Microsoft Store update enables third party app stores

Got to be honest I use it now quite a bit, but I have game pass so its kind of essential. This seems like a good way of bring more users in to the windows store be honest (and with the added advantage of free advertising/revenue).
    Trust

    Laptop : Dell Inspiron 1545 with Ryzen 5500u, 16gb and 256 NVMe, Windows 11.

Re: Microsoft Store update enables third party app stores

Ive used it a few time for small apps like zip etc , none of them actually did what I wanted tho so back to using an old copy of winzip that works great and doesn't have to connect to anything to unzip stuff.
I would say 90% of whats in the store is junk.

Or I just go to a trusted source and download my preferred store client from there...

Personally, I'd say 7-Zip is the best option these days.

Another vote for 7-Zip, alongside VLC and Firefox it’s one of my first installs on any new system.

Can't stand how garbage Firefox has become, I am remiss to even add it to my builds in the org because it's such a pain in the behind to manage and for user usability.

Seems a bit **** that games are in a category of their own.

I tried using this recently on my dads new laptop when I was setting it up for him. Got annoyed with it and ended up hunting down the installers for the games from W7 IIRC. Pretty sure I saw adverts in it and I was getting notifications.

What do you not like about FF and what do you use instead? My only ever issue with it is the history is rubbish IMO, apart from that it seems to do the job as well as any of the others I've tried.
