You'll never stop the idiots who cheat. The cheats have totally ruined multiplay for me.
JABULANI NONKE
It was bad when i played some 20 years ago, i am sure it is even worse nowadays.
I was myself banned from a server for cheating, or rather whine about cheaters.
I have also myself been called a cheater, but i assume that happen when you are good at a game and put as many hours into it daily as you would a job.
Back in the day the games i played dident take long before invites to clans was coming in, and in general i was also in a clan in the games i played.
Anti cheat in games should be even bigger than bling bling graphics are, CUZ i would rather play a cheater free game that look like minecraft than play a looker game ripe with cheaters.
But i am willing to bet cheat are not even on the books when they make a game,,,,, and it should very much be so.
At first the kernel-level driver gave me chills but it seems they've been sensible and only have it loaded when the game is running, not that it effects me any more as i gave up online games because of cheaters.
Well, time for dual boot or vfio (if they don't block it like valorant does)
Cheating is obviously a pain for those not cheating (lets be honest this is really about microtransctions/money) but I can never get behind kernel level anticheat. It might only be while the game is playing right now but as soon as the modders create a workaround (and they will) it will soon be changed to at boot etc.
You have to wonder if this is part of the reasoning behind MS (with a bit of gentle persuasion from games and other media companies) and their tpm/secureboot etc requirements on windows 11.... it sure helps with permanently identifying pc's and banning players based on hardware id's etc

This is desperately needed to avoid the game dying off completely - you'll never stop those awful people from actually cheating, but if they can get it to the point its a cheater in 1 out of 10 games rather than 1 in 2, that would be a huge plus. Currently in warzone you'll find a cheater in almost every single lobby (in fact, i'd expect there are wall hackers & soft aimbotters in *every* lobby, but you only tend to find the obvious rage cheaters in 1-in-2- games).
I'm very happy they have gone for a kernel level approach too, as we know this is much harder to defeat consistently, and its likely that most of the cheats that do continue to work will be the private ones, which are by their nature not in the hands of hundreds of thousands of players, compared to EO or AL etc, who sell them for £30 a month etc.
It's really sad that they have to resort to this invasive level of anti cheat though, I can't politely express just how awful people cheaters really are.

So they can't use EAC for MP?
Bring back PunkBuster
I personally couldn't care less about online multiplayer but I do hope they make it linux compatible for all the folk migrating to linux after microsofts latest clusterfluck windows.
