    Custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU
Three symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each
Two hardware threads per core; six hardware threads total
VMX-128 vector unit per core; three total
128 VMX-128 registers per hardware thread

    i'd prefer the dreamcast

seriously though, the specs are sorta besides the point - it's a question of what the games companies DO with those specs that matter.

call me when there are some games to delight & titilate

Hexxeh is right as always about the "titles".

Expect a plethora of EA "sequels" for release on the first day.

I forsee shelves full of Tiger Woods 2006, Fifa 2006, Harry Potter games and a few sequels to the NFSU series

Please lord let someone release an original title thats worthy of my hard earned cash.

Must dash to GAME later and see if they are taking pre-orders

Give me a PC over an Xbox anyday!

How much it cost this time? £400? £500? Games gonna be about £50 to start? People will pay such stupid money to have the latest "fad" though, I didn't get a PS2 till ages after they were released, had a really good game base by then and was about £150.

I prefer the looks of the PS2 Silver too, that Xbox 360 to me looks pretty ugly. But that's my opinion, and others will love it.

Wish MS hadn't jumped on the Apple bandwagon with the whole 'shiny white plastic' style. I don't like the look of it at all but I'll still end up getting one having had an Xbox since launch it has served me very well.

Obviously PCs still own for gaming but this may well close the gap on quality.

I think, looking at the styling and the specs, that MS are heading very much for a fully integrated entertainment system, games, music, films, browsing... all through the one box...

So, pretty much a little PC? Perhaps they're trying to take on the Mac Mini, rather than the console market?

I for one actually like the design of the Xbox 360.

Media Centre Extender - Nice, I will now be able to watch all the stuff I've recorded on the highest settings possible on my PC upstairs that has a nova-T and MCE2005 installed via the network while chilling downstairs and change without running upstairs and fiddling with the PC

Wireless Controllers - eeeek more batteries to buy. I can see myself playing Forza or its eqivalent and nearly breaking my speed records only for the batteries to die on the last chicane and *bang* game over man game over. I for one do not trust wireless and would love the option for wired solutions instead

Next gen format support - Ahh well, HD-DVD and Blue ray are still arguing over which will be the "domanent" format so I expected this to only support DVD anyway.

There appears to be a couple of holes on the bottom of the controllers, total speculation but they could be for recharging the controllers.

I expect those holes are for a Xbox360 headset, but what is up with the 10mb graphics RAM am I missing something that will compensate for this?

Ahhh but if your anything like me and play xbox after a session on the clubbing and come in to wind down then the last thing you'll be doing is docking the controllers into anything.

I forget to dock my Pxxx mobiles and MX700 mouse enough of the time without my xbox 360 controllers to tend to.

Docking 'ell fire its gonna be pretty crazy

I'll stick with my PC also, thank you.

The Video Chip has 10mb on memory on it but the system according to the specs has 512mb of GDD3 memory and an additional 700mb of DDR memory. I'm guessing a fair portion of that 512 of GDD3 is going to be reserved for the Video processor's framebuffer.
