Nichometer: spot on the Telewest box. I have just put in a full wired network in my home (getting someone in to run all the cables and put in the boxes is a nightmare - I could do it but do not have the time - until there are enough people able to do this the digital home will not take off - and do not make me start on wired v wireless networks) so that I can run a digital home and control what my children use the internet for.

As far as the digital home is concerned the concept is flawed until the cable companies allow me to slot their card into my PC. They are also going to have to allow me (for a small price no more than £10 a month) to be able to record one channel whilst watching another on twin tuner (or whatever they will call the PC card then) system

Storage is not an issue though - HD prices are so cheap. It may be overkill but 8x200G Diamond Max 10 (£65 inc VAT a shot) and a Broadcomm 8 port RAID 5 card give me 1.4T of disk space to store my entire CD collection (without compression!) all the DVD/Videos and a couple of hundred hours of TV. All I want now is a 42" Plasma/LCD and proper High Dev broadcasts.

It's simple.... I'd have a central server with thousands of gigabytes of storage, and media PCs all around the house accessing this. Music and videos will be stored centrally and are playable from anywhere in the house with these media PCs.

I have something similar to a certain extent now... Squeezebox accessing music on my server and a Media PC (I will build a better one sometime, honest!) for everything else
