    SAPPHIRE PI-A9RX480 PURE 'Grüper' Motherboard!

The name is long enough, eh?

    ph00r!

    More ph00r!

    A little less ph00r!

    What is the Gruper?

It's a chipset based on ATI's RX480 northbridge and SB450 southbridge, that's what. It certainly looks the business and, ATI/SAPPHIRE reckons, is the S939 motherboard for the enthusiast. It's meant to overclock rather well, too, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

We'll be comparing it against VIA and NVIDIA's finest.

Has the time come for ATI and one of its friendliest partners to finally produce a motherboard that the enthusiast has been waiting for?

It's technically called Grouper, but informally known at SAPPHIRE as Gruper (sic), so we've stuck with that in the pipelines' section.

I keep thinking of Hans Gruber when I hear the board's name. Must watch Die Hard again.

    Look right down the bottom.

The version we have is slightly different from the one shown on SAPPHIRE's 'site.

Just out of interest - what is the level of Linux support on this motherboard and, for the sake of comparison, on nForce4s?
