GC 2005: Jame Bond: From Russia With Love - Hands On

Sometimes, just sometimes, you know that even with a game that's still in development, it's going to be something rather good. Electronic Arts might well have hit exactly the right mark with their latest James Bond game, From Russia With Love.
EA show off the attention to detail with their cutscenes, mimicking classic Bond moments perfectly and adding to the atmosphere immensely. It’s in this first briefing that you suddenly realise that EA have spent a long time working on how the Bond character moves and the facial animation only adds to the feeling that Bond is back.

I don't like the look of that, you can not do a 3rd Person Bond game IMO.

No-one will ever be able to live up to Goldeneye bond esp EA.

Sorry, not on my shopping list.

I'll have to play and see how this works out, the old PSX bond games were TPS, and worked fairly well... Still unsure though.

What the screenshots don't convey at all is the atmoshpere of the game. The way Bond moves, the voice acting, the scenery and the enviroment all take you right back to classic Connery Bond... from what I've seen, I'm looking forward to this one.

The third person perspective works very well, especially for conveying the feeling of playing the movie, it allows you to see much more of whats going on around you... you have to see running code to get an idea...

Yohji, whew, that's going back aways!

Fear not, when I get review code, we'll see how the TP holds up!

I think it will be a great game, the effect of hearing the 'real' Bond speak rather than a 'b' class voice actor is one reason I shall be getting it

Good review - not so good a game though, I fear.

I dunno, it certainly has the feel and atmospere of those classic Bond films... the music adds a lot to that and the TPP seems to work fine...

I was playing an early build though, so some camera issues were eident, but those should be sorted in the final build, so EA say.
