HEXUS.gaming:: Hands On: The Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion

Yes, you read that right, HEXUS.gaming was at a highly exclusive hands-on playtest of The Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion, Bethseda's latest game in the hugely marvellous ELder Scrolls series.

But I didn't get to go... Steven W was there though, so read all about it on HEXUS.gaming

And don't forget to tell him how damn jealous you are... the git.

(not sure where to discuss this - link from preview just goes to hexus forums top level)

Can't wait for this game - already pre-ordered the collectors edition which is very cheap at play at the moment.

I don't think the screenshots will do it justice - even if it is just an evolution of the morrowind engine (both based on the Gamebryo engine) it sounds like the 'life' of the world brings a lot to the game.

And to be honest this kind of game cannot ever get everything perfect - Morrowind was only truly enjoyable if you used your imagination to get past the limitations. But that's what RPGs are about, and if people are expecting everything to be perfect then they won't enjoy it (though I must admit, it will probably be tempting to have that expectation given the improvements).

Actually I'm not jealous.. whoever said it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved is obviously wrong - I'd much rather get this whole game and the freedom to play it (already booked the days off work! ) than be dragged away after four hours...!

    It's also being discussed here.

The collector's edition is a must for fans! I agree not everything can be perfect and the small imperfections are totally forgiveable in a game of this quality.

The graphics do look really good in the screen shots, but so did morrowwind and that was an awful looking game. Just terrible. So I hope this game runs and looks as good as its made out to be. Lately the hype on games is crossing the line in to BS.
