Card and headphones seem to be awesome. However, why would they create a proprietary interface (HD-DAI) when they could've used a standard such as SPDIF to deliver crystal clear sound to the headphones?

doesn't look favorable, but... well take a read - seems the chip is supported but it doesn't work - nothing hex can't fix
