'No plans to launch mylo in the UK or Europe'

Just so you all know - I received an email this afternoon from Sony's UK PR while I was away from the office.

    It said,

There are no plans to launch Mylo [sic] in the UK or Europe at this time.
So, does that mean we're all more discerning than the Yanks or what?

    I've really no idea.

Memory sticks arent that bad nowadays, the rising popularity of SE phones make them useful nowadays.

I dont have any devices that use SD cards in my house, 2 cameras that use CF, and i have 6 devices that use memory sticks

They've done nothing wrong with the MS format, its just too many formats, but if they were to standardise to just one flash memory card out there for all devices to use, my vote would be on memory stick, the duos are great and micros are as small as you need.

    Prices from Scan:
    Cheapest 1Gb SD card - £12.85
    Cheapest 1Gb Memory Stick - £27.60

And, how many non-Sony devices use MS anyway?

some Samsung products do. Would have been better if Sony had pushed it as an industry format, but at least they are better than XD Picture cards

The only reason they are more expensive is because they are not as popular as SD, you can bet that if the sales were the same the prices would be too

The PSP, all sony vaios, all sony phones, all sony cameras, and a few other laptop manufacturers use the duo

I like the card/format, its a decent size and performance, smaller than SD (SD is too big for phones now, even the duo is too big now).

Memory stick was just another pointless sony lock-in product - nobody actually needed it and it didn't offer anything new. SD fits in my phone just fine, and my camera, and my laptop and my PDA - all from different manufacturers.

actually, at the time, it was definitely needed and there was nothing that came close. MemoryStick was out long before SD/MMC took off and was faster than those originally too. The only other options at the time was CompactFlash (not very compact) and SmartMedia (not very smart).

Prices have also dropped now that SanDisk are producing their own ones.
