Does anyone know if they have any plans to make Optiplex versions? If they did then we might start seeing them in the corporate environment.

    Gordy,

Questions from a possible c521 buyer:

    1. Does the Radeon x1300 video card have a fan on it? I couldn't tell from your photo gallery.

    2. Since this is a nVidia nForce 430 chipset based system, does that mean I could just go to nVidia's website for all my driver needs, or do you think Dell has made enough changes that I would be dependent upon them for drivers? I ask because I suspect that driver revisions would be available more quickly from nVidia than from Dell.

    Thanks!

    theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=35013

NOTE: The http part of the URL is clipped off because of forum rules, but that link will take you to an Inquirer article about AMD Optiplexes that are supposed to exist.

DELL have had some pretty shoddy results over the past couple of quarters - falling sales, falling margins, falling market share (e.g. HP managed to pip them to worldwide number 1 PC maker this last quarter
    - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/10/19/hp_wins_dell/) and so with all this Dell needed to do something to make all their shareholders and analysts feel better about the company... roll on AMD

    Sorry just seen this post.

GFX: The graphics card is passive so no fan on it from memory, I will check the other one I have downstairs tommorow to double check.

Drivers: I would bet on being able to use nvidia drivers but I can be a 100% sure.

Gordy, did you get a chance to verify that the card is passively cooled?
