Very smooth, impressively smooth in fact, given that we were on preview code....

I've read it back and my God I must have been so excited when I wrote that. I've learnt a lesson and that's to sit back and calm down when I come back from playing something like this, I still stick to my opinion though..it's great.

A little birdie tells me we have code on the way, which means I'm going to stay up all night to complete the single player campaign ready for review!

I'll join you if you just so happen to want to play the entire campaign in co-op mode. *wink wink*

ohhhh no you don't. Don't even THINK of changing that writing style. Don't ever say that again. I've not read something like that for a long long time. Enthusiam is what success is ALL ABOUT.

That review has built a desire in me to play it. When it comes to console shooters.....that's frikkin rare!

It is the best mastery of energy and direction of enthusiasm that I've seen for ages. It's fine. Don't change. I just wish more games did it to ya

That's the best bit. Having read most of Steven's work, it was the complete change of approach that struck me on this preview. He's played so many games and written about so many but very very rarely does he get this giddy! It was a great read, can't wait to play it for myself.

Cheers guys, yeah most time I tend to be more objective, but I certainly enjoyed writing this one more than any other because I didn't hold back on anything. There's been quite a bit of reaction to it over the net, mainly from US sites, some of it postive but plenty of negative reactions as well. One guy said it was 'like reading gay porn'.

But I suppose the main thing is I should write about how I feel at the time and if it annoys people than so be it. My main worry was that people may think it was a deliberate attempt to hype the game or advertise the game, which seemed to be about what a lot of the negative responses were about, but that's so far off the mark. Glad you liked it anyway, I'll try and get more excited about other games to! It's pretty hard when you're playing the likes of Barnyard on the PS2 though!

I myself very rarely get sucked into the hype, pretty much every game comes with some form of hype these days. The majority of them also have a good backing of prequels too.

But I always hold that bit of doubt in my mind and usually refuse to get overly excited until I've played it for myself. Unfortunately every once in a while a game will get the better of me and I succumb to the hype. The last time that happened was with Half Life 2, and it's definately happened again with Gears of War.

And yes, I agree with the HL2 excitement. I was so excited back then...(seems like yesterday). My excitement is mirrored with GoW!!

Looks amazing, I think I'm gonna pre-order it now although I'm guessing it will make it motion sick.
