Question Re: Reviews - MSI GT725 notebook: gaming power to go?

Still considering buying this laptop. I have noticed alot of people complaining about alot of bleed at the bottom of the screen. Is this the European version or the US version. I know the US version has a better screen on it. I would love to hear an update from some owners on the performance of this model.

That would be my foremost complaint of the UK GT725, the light bleed. However it's only noticeable when screen is blank or displaying a very dark background. During daily use, I rarely notice. For the price I paid, I still believe that it's great value.

There's a new VGA driver now released on MSI's website.

    Haven't tried it yet.

    Need help choosing CPU version!!!!!

    Hi,
Just joined because I need an answer to what is probably a simple question.

I am currently in the market to buy a new laptop and am looking at the two choices of MSI GT725. The MSI GT725-210UK and the MSI Gaming GT725-087UK. The only difference other than screen size is the CPU.

As I do a lot of video rendering as well as play games (crysis), can someone please tell me which would be the best/fastest processor out of the two MSI Laptops for video rendering? The 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 or the 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P9500.

If say, i'm rendering 1 video at a time would the 4 cores of the quad core be used to give a faster render time than the 2 cores of the dual core?

Or are the extra cores only used when carrying out multiple tasks?

    Thanks for any advice..............

Re: Reviews - MSI GT725 notebook: gaming power to go?

    Hi
I did some research and found out a bit of info.

For most games, these only utilise 2 cores so the dual core 2.53GHz would be better than the quad.

But for video rendering the quad would be better. But this obviously depends on the video rendering software. I use TMPGEnc Xpress 4 and this does utilise multiply cores.

    Hope this helps..........

I'd bought the GT725-087UK before the quad core model came out in the UK. I've got Crysis and although I can't directly compare to the quad core model so I don't know whether it would run better, it certainly runs very well on the dual core.
