    AMD Athlon 64 FX-53 CPU

Intel's Pentium 4 3.4GHz Extreme Edition put the onus back on to AMD's shoulders. We'd call the heavyweight fight pretty even now, although the balance may swing entirely in AMD's favour when 64-bit computing isn't just a thought but a full-blown, usable reality. The trouble is, we were saying the same thing back in the FX-51 review (September 2003). AMD's just keeping that as a bonus, flashy PR feature, for 32-bit performance is damn hot.

Talking Should I get Amd's FX-53 or Wait and see what Intel's Socket 775 has to offer?

Also I'm not one of those people who are in one of the cpu camps. I'm not for Intel nor am I for Amd ok. Now thats out of the way, I'm just for whoever produces the fastest and best processor's.

I would appreciate some of your thoughts on why do you think the Amd-Fx53 is faster then even The P4 Extreme Edition? Is it the added memory, cache fsb,sse2 ect. is it the revised cg or what?

I have seen how the chips Architecture is excatly the same as the FX 51 Chip. So How is it faster as I am curious to see if Intel's new chip socket 775 will offer more features such as virus protection? I"m trying to come to a conculsion on what the chip may have or may not have to offer. I wanna upgrade to the fastest cpu hehe.........

And No I don't work for Intel I am just curious as I want to have an Idea as why I should wait for the new LGA775 as seen in 2.8ghz 1.2fsb code named tejas seen it January ninth hehe hush Intel will be Launching soon as socket 775 hehe. Epox is showing off Intel i915P Grantsdale-P based mainboards with the new LGA-775 Socket-T in Hall 23 here at CeBIT. One of the firm’s first offerings is the EPoX EP-5EPA2+ which also features Intel’s ICH6R south bridge and supports four DDR2-400 or 533 DIMMs. As we reported earlier, some Taiwanese motherboard makers are expressing concern over how fragile Intel’s new LGA-775 Socket-T is.
It's Fraigle becuause the chips pins are left in the motherboard for some reason and the retention clip is breakable but Intel should fix it asap?
Cebit was so much fun yall have to check it out someitme...........

As For Amd the Socket 940 will be replaced by Socket 939 which should be a notch faster as it will use unregistered ddr memory..... Hehe for us gamers and computer enthusiasts......... We all know about this chip and it is a great chip for now hehe let the chip wars commence: D................

I would wait for the 939 CPUs to come out...... and /or wait a few months to get the new technologies in a shift

Exclamation Bit of a mistake in the FX53 Review

    Can call me picky but....

The AMD FX 51/53 series of CPU do NOT require ECC ram, they require registered ram. This is a bit of difference, if ECC is turned on it often (in most cases) it makes the system unstable.

Granted Registered and ECC ram generally come hand in hand, but ECC is disabled.

    Other than that, great review

Which is why I said they come hand in hand, but statements such as "ECC memory required" are not true, "Wouldn't it be nice to have some 2-2-2-5 ECC DDR400 memory. We'll put a request into Corsair and OCZ" is incorrect.... etc

Registered ram is what is required and ECC is disabled.

    Noxis is right.

It's me getting lazy with terminology.

Registered and ECC DIMMs aren't mutually exclusive, although 95% of the time they're both present in server-level memory.
