Ugh, I hate this trend recently among "gaming" headsets of plugging straight into the USB port, a lot of us use speakers as well as headphones and so have purchased a dedicated soundcard to do the audio processing itself, so why would we want our headset to do a worse job of it rather than just letting us use our own soundcard.
you can't really complain about this specific headset due to the price, most people don't buy sound cards, as it doesn't give you much over integrated sound and the only reason to buy it is if you're an audiophile, in which case you wouldn't be buying this headset, you'd be buying something about 10x the price
I get what you're saying in relation to this specific headset, but I guess I was sort of making a more general point about "gaming headsets" nowadays, what with the recent Corsair headset, the Logitech G series headsets, the Creative Sound Blaster, etc. all using a USB connection.
