Thumbs up IWill ZMAXdp Sneak Peak!

Always in persuit of a scoop, we've managed to track down exclusive interior pictures of IWill's ZMAXdp SFF box, including pictures of the cooler, the motherboard and the exposed chassis.

Check those out, along with a little commentary from yours truly, here.

I wouldn't like to try running two 250s and an NV40 from that 250W PSU. Surely that's going to be a bit of a hindrance to a workstation user? I'm thinking that a custom right-angle ATX plug is going to be needed, too.

Presumably the memory is controlled via one processor, with the other one accessing it via the HT bus? The MSI board with that configuration doesn't seem to be unduly hamstrung by the arrangement.

The lack of SATA seems to be utterly insane, perhaps they'll revise the design before it goes into production.

This is an EARLY pics - but the SATA thing doesnt make sense

I think that the HT bus will have enough speed

Everyone mocked Shuttle for the 200W PSUs - theirs works I dont doubt this system.

I wonder if it's a mockup board? There's no mounting holes for a chipset cooler which seems odd to me.

There also don't look to be any obvious silk screen marks for SATA ports.

Oh, I love speculating over fuzzy pictures of unreleased hardware.

I can see the two SATA connectors right here.

Hint: AGP slot and the two yellow capacitors...

Do they? I won't be able to afford A64 for a while yet so I'm happy to take your word for it. Makes sense I guess, it's basically a glorified southbridge.

SHS` is right, I see two SATA ports next to the AGP slot too.

Also, who has the typo? Hexus or Iwill? Because Hexus says it has a 250 watt PSU but on Iwill's official page they say it has a 300 watt PSU.

(By the way, I'm new here but when can I start using an Avatar?)

    500 posts!

Wow, that's kinda high. I've been posting over in the 3DG forums for over 2 years and I've just barely gotten past 1700 posts. It will take me forever to accumulate 500 post here.

    Oh well... Rules are rules.

(By the way, sorry I went off topic.)

    You will hit it quickly

Nice one on spotting the SATA ports - we had to get this story up so quickly it was untrue.

I wasn't the one that spotted the SATA ports first, it was SHS` who spotted them first.

I just want to make sure credit is given where credit is due.

I remembered seeing them on IWIll's own page, but couldn't check yesterday as there site was getting DDoSed from all the traffic this new product appears to have generated.

Though it was Brad that pointed out where it was on the motherboard and have to admit it is rather easy to miss on the overhead image.

These babies would make a rather nice Beowulf cluster though... in the spirit of http://space-simulator.lanl.gov/
