Can i ask, when was this review done guys? I only ask as that BF3 had a patch yesterday (evening) and it was to fix a couple of crashes and to... IMPROVE PERFORMANCE OF 7000 SERIES!

(if you havent tested after that patch... can you test the 7970/50 again please ).

Looks like a pretty unexciting launch, cant even best my gtx460... great .
The BF3 tests were done pre-patch. The machines have just been updated and I've run an HD 7770 and HD 7750 again. There is no difference between the results for pre- and post-match scores.

Ouch. What about for the higher end 7970 & 7950?

Re: Reviews - PowerColor Radeon HD 7770 and AMD Radeon HD 7750

The more I think about it the more,I don't understand why AMD simply did not release the HD7770 with faster clockspeeds for the GPU and RAM?? The OC SKUs seem to run at 1100MHZ to 1150MHZ,so it seems the core is downclocked for the stock cards!!

At around that speed the card and higher clocked RAM has similar performance to an HD5850 1GB:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/X...rclock/26.html

Power consumption and cooling are obviously not the reasons.

so they can give the sku`s headroom for overclocked cards from the get go knowing theres headroom - so no more ` warranty void for flipping the switch`

Appreciate this effort Tarinder! Seems really odd to specifically mention performance increases and yet show none, maybe they actually meant just the 7950/70? Hmm odd of dice todo such a thing!.

Either they didn't have hardware IDs for the 77x0 cards and therefore are not code-branching correctly or they didn't fix the performance issue with 7xxx cards......

AMD,bested all of them with half arsed efforts.

I really hope Nvidia releases some decent Kepler based cards for the sub £100 market.
Nvidia has abandoned the sub £100 market just like AMD has (the 7750 is the cheapest 7 series card that is not a rebrand) the sub £100 market is what the APU is for after all.

You can asymmetrical CF APU's and GPU's though - or is that mobile only?

The desktop ones too, as the IGP has 320 to 400 VLIW5 shaders for the Llano A6 and A8 and the HD6500 and HD6600 series cards have 480 VLIW5 shaders.

The thing is though Trinity is meant to be using VLIW4 shaders, and yet the HD7500 and HD7600 series are meant to be rebrands of the HD6500 and HD6600 series which are VLIW5.

TBH,how does that one work out??

    Wow

Yeah, it's obviously a different class of card to the 5670/6670, isn't it! At last a decent bus-powered gaming card. Now all I need is the money to put together my dream mitx build

I thing everyone who compares the 7770 agaisnt the 460 and 68XX series are expecting a lot if you wanted it to beat them as its a 16 rop 128 bit wide memory card against 24(460 748)/32 rop, 192 (460 748)/256 bit memory cards. I think the 7770 does well to come out on top of any of them on some tests. I dont think its as good a card as it should have been (1 more gcn cluster would have made a hell of a difference) and the price is to high for what it is.
